Before running GGL for the first time COPY all the files you received, except
this READ_ME.1ST file, to the disk or sub-directory you intend to routinely
use for operating the program. Then, put this disk away for safekeeping. If
you are not familiar with the COPY command refer to your DOS Manual.
When you run GGL for the first time you will be asked if you want to See or
Print the GGL Manual, or go to Defaults. We urge that you print it and
follow the instructions step-by-step in the order given. The GGL Manual is
in the file called MANUAL.GGL. This is a text file and you can load it in
most word processors.
Once you have the Manual in hand, then go to the Defaults. They are explained
in the Manual, but we want to emphasize the importance of the PgmsPath and
DataPath. PgmsPath should contain the path to the directory where the
programs are located. For familiarization DataPath should be the same as the
PgmsPath; later it can be changed to the path for the data files if you want
to keep your accounts data in a separate directory.
When you finish with Defaults a new file called GGL.DFT is created. If in the
future you change the PgmsPath and a run time error occurs, GGL.DFT should be
erased. Then run GGL again. You will go through the start-up procedure, but
the error will not occur.
